It was an honor to be asked to photograph the Kimrey Family. This session was originally scheduled to take place during the spring, but it turned out to be a rainy weekend so it didn’t happen until late summer. Of course, it wasn’t a completely rain-free day. Just as our photos were to begin, we could hear some thunder rolling in, and the rain drops weren’t far behind. It rained for at least 2 hours, and I was constantly checking the radar to give everyone estimates on when we might begin. Luckily, there was a dinner planned for everyone when pictures were done, so a decision was made to eat first and then take pictures. Photos were scheduled to begin at 4, and I think we finally started about 6:30. The weather can be unpredictable, especially in NC, but I’m thankful for these individuals who were patient and understanding.
We started the formal pictures with everyone, about 40 individuals, and we even captured everyone looking in the right direction! It is so special to photograph a grandfather and grandmother surrounded by their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. I’m confident the images of the entire family will be treasured for years to come, as well as the smaller group shots. It’s easy to see the joy that radiates through this family from the genuine smiles and laughs that were captured. I had a smile on my face the whole time because you can’t help but be happy around this group. From the hospitality I was shown, to the conversations about what my images have meant to this family over the years, it was a dream to photograph everyone together. To the Kimrey’s, I hope these images have already brought enjoyment, and may they continue to do so!
